Mark J. Smith, 58, of New Orleans, Louisiana, was found dead Saturday morning, according to a news release from the New Orleans Police Department.
Smith was the former CEO and chairman of the company, which has been in business for more than a decade.
The company is known for its educational and educational-related programs, as well as its aquarium tours.
Smith is survived by his wife, Julie Smith; daughters, Amanda and Amanda Brown; sons, Matt and Kevin Smith; grandchildren, Brandon and Andrew Smith; and great-grandchildren.
Smith founded the company in 2005 and was a founding member.
The company has a reputation for providing educational programs and aquarium tours to schools.
Fish Tales has about 3,000 customers.
Smith had been a director of the aquarium company since 2014, according with the company’s website.
Smith’s death came about three weeks after he died at a New Orleans hospital.
