By now you’ve probably heard about Hawaii’s fish farm.
And now we’ve got the official photos, too.
The facility was built on land near the town of Waimea in Waimeae County and is expected to house between 40 and 50 million fish.
The farm is expected produce between 60 and 100 million fish per year.
But that’s just the beginning.
Hawaii is hoping to add 1.5 million fish in the next five years, so there’s a lot of fish to be harvested.
And the project’s already been in the works for years.
In a video posted on the Facebook page of the Waimeākahoe Basin Management District, the farm’s owner, Tom Babbitt, describes the fish as “big, beautiful and clean.”
It will produce enough food for Hawaii to feed more than 8 million people by 2040.
We have a really good farm, and we want to be successful, he says.
But there’s one catch.
The state has already announced it will cut back on the amount of fish that can be harvested from the state’s rivers.
That means the fish farm won’t be able to supply Hawaii’s population with the fish that are harvested from local streams.
Babbitt says he’s hoping that the new fish farms, which will be operated by local businesses, will help Hawaiians to “get fish that’s grown in a natural environment.”
That’s a nice sentiment.
But, the state is also planning to cut back its water supply, so that the fish farms won’t have any food left.
So, how big is the fish farming farm?
According to a video on the Waimākaha Basin Management’s Facebook page, the fish facility will have a capacity of 4,500 tons.
The fish farm’s site is also in the Waipahu River, which feeds into the Waikiki River.
But that’s not all.
The facility is expected have a “capacity of up to 10 million fish.”
This would put it at more than a million fish annually, according to the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
What else is Hawaii’s plan for fish farming?
According the Department, the plan is to have up to 40,000 acres of land in the region devoted to fish farming.
This means the farms would be able “to produce up to 500 million fish a year,” according to an announcement by the department.
The Waipahikis are already famous for their love of fish.
