A study released Thursday shows how to spot which species of fish are best suited to your diet.
The study, which included more than 1,000 fishers in the Fraser River watershed, concluded that the best way to eat fish is by selecting fish that have different characteristics to their native environments.
The researchers compared the size and shape of fish species on Fraser River and Lake Louise, the Fraser’s largest and most popular catch.
Fish like rainbow trout and steelhead are smaller, have a sharper mouth, a deeper gill net and have a bigger body.
They are also the most common fish to see in the water, according to the researchers.
