I’ve never thought of myself as a fisherman, but I can’t help but notice how Texan license plates have a distinct, Texan feel.
Sure, the state is the home of some of the country’s best fishing, but they’ve taken an aggressive stance on the licensing of those who use them to sell recreational licenses, and that’s helped drive the price down.
“It’s just a little bit different than the way it used to be,” said Mike Pappas, president of the Texas Fish and Game Commission.
The new Texas license plate is a bit different, but it’s the same design, with the same “t” and “tiger.”
It’s a simple way to market the state’s business, and it’s certainly less controversial than the old ones.
But it’s a design change that’s being driven by the Texas Legislature, which has moved to ban the use of a logo that is a caricature of the state.
And it’s part of a broader push by lawmakers to end the “fishing license” as we know it, and move toward something that’s more akin to a license plate, one that’s personalized and is a good fit for the person buying it.
In the past, Texas has used a design that has had a connection to the state, but that hasn’t always been quite right.
In 2011, a Texas Department of Motor Vehicles inspector ruled that a design used on a licenseplate in a photo of the governor had been a parody of Texas and had been deemed to be offensive.
But then, in 2012, a judge overturned that ruling, ruling that the design of the license plate was “fairly neutral,” and that the Legislature had no intention of changing the design.
The design was replaced with the more generic “T” and the letter “Tiger.”
The new design has a slightly different silhouette and the letters have been replaced with a red, gold, and white tiger and the “t.”
The license plate that you see today is no longer the “Texas Fishing License” plate.
That’s the new one, which is now called the “Fishing License.”
The changes come after years of pressure from lawmakers and consumer advocates.
In 2015, the Legislature passed a law that allowed the use for recreational fishing and hunting purposes of a license plates design that featured a “T,” “T.”
The Texas Department the State of Texas has been moving toward a new logo.
It’s been a long road, but lawmakers and regulators are on the right track.
It was a little surprising to me, but the new logo is clearly a design decision made by the Legislature to avoid having to take a “somewhat more conservative stance on this license plate,” Pappa said.
“I’m not sure how many people are aware of that, but this was probably the biggest change since the ’60s.”
For a few years, it was just a simple design change.
“This has been a constant evolution over the years,” said Chris McPherson, senior vice president of communications for the Texas Department, “where we’ve looked at the market and tried to stay ahead of the curve.”
The state changed the license plates logo in 2018, and a few months later the department changed the design to a design made by a design firm.
The Texas Fish & Game Commission also changed the logo in 2017, to the design by Denton-based design firm The Denton, and the license tag in 2019.
The changes are all part of the same legislative process, and they are all driven by consumer pressure.
The Department of Transportation’s McPhersons said that when it comes to the new design, the department is “not necessarily looking to have a political issue,” and they’re “just trying to do the right thing.”
The change to the license tags has led to more debate.
“There’s a lot of concerns that we’re not really being fair to the people who are going to get licenses to fish,” said Pappans attorney, Robert Minkoff, who represents a small Texas fishing town in the process.
“But the bottom line is, we’re going to license those people, and if the legislature wants to change the license number, we’ll make sure that it’s not changed.”
And it will probably happen.
The change is not expected to take place for at least two years.
The agency is currently looking at options to continue using the old design.
“We’re looking at whether we can get that license plate back into the marketplace, but we’re looking into it on a case-by-case basis,” said McPheredson.
“The new design looks like a bit of a novelty to some people, but to us it’s going to be a great addition to the market.”
The current design is one of a number of licensing changes in the state that are aimed at keeping license plate numbers relevant, and making them a more attractive product.
But the new license numbers are different.
“If you look at the old license
